The short version
BoostX reads the public information X already sends to your browser — follower counts, view counts, likes — and shows it to you in the timeline. That processing happens locally. It does not read your messages, your drafts, or any page other than X.
One thing does leave your machine: anonymous statistics about public posts, used to work out how often an account posts and how a post is performing for its size. It is on by default, and this page explains exactly what it covers.
What BoostX stores on your device
- Follower and post counts for accounts you have scrolled past, cached so badges appear instantly
- Your settings — which metrics to show, thresholds, which pages it runs on
- Performance samples used to work out posting rates and baselines
None of this leaves your browser except the post statistics described below. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it. You can clear it at any time from the extension popup.
The statistics BoostX sends
BoostX sends statistics about public posts you scroll past. Pooling these across users is what makes it possible to say whether a post is performing unusually well — no single browser sees enough posts to know that alone.
What is sent
- The post's public ID
- View, like, repost, reply and bookmark counts
- How old the post was when seen
- Format: image, video, link, thread, poll
- The post's opening line
- The author's public follower and post count
What is never sent
- Who commented on any post
- Full post text
- Your name, handle or account
- Anything you write, draft or send
- Your direct messages
- Any activity outside x.com
No account is required and none is created. Contributed statistics are not linked to you, because BoostX does not know who you are. There is no login, no user ID, and no identifier that follows you between sessions.
How it is used
Only to produce aggregate benchmarks inside BoostX — typical reach for an account of a given size, whether a post is beating its author's usual numbers, which formats travel. It is not sold, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising or profiling.
Stopping it
This version has no in-app switch for it. Removing the extension stops it immediately and deletes everything stored on your device. To request deletion of previously contributed statistics, email the address below — note that because contributions carry no identifier, you may need to tell us roughly when you had it enabled so we can locate the relevant records.
Permissions, and why
storage— to save your settings and the local cachex.comandtwitter.comaccess — the extension only runs on X. It cannot see any other site you visit.debugger(paid version only) — used solely to place a draft into X's reply box, because X ignores text inserted any other way. It is used for that single action and nothing else.
What BoostX never does
- It does not post, reply, like, follow or send messages on your behalf
- It does not ask for, see or store your X password
- It does not track you across websites
- It does not serve advertising or build advertising profiles
- It does not sell data to anyone
Third parties
The paid version sends the text of a post you have chosen to reply to, along with any attached image, to an AI provider in order to generate draft replies. This happens only when you press Generate. Those providers process the request to return a draft and do not receive your identity.
Children
BoostX is not directed at children under 13 and is not intended for their use.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the extension will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
